Looking north along Central Avenue, toward the intersection of Central and Mitchell Street. Visible on the right is the Shrine of the Immaculate Conception Church, construction on which began in 1869 and was completed in 1873.

Central Avenue looking north toward Mitchell Street. As in 1955, Central Avenue is a one-way street, but traffic now flows northbound rather than southbound. The block on the right (only the corner with the lamppost is visible) is the site of Atlanta City Hall.
